Group therapy

Group therapy in Tel Aviv

Meet others going through a similar difficulty, in a safe and confidential setting led by a psychologist.

What is group therapy?

Group therapy brings together a small number of people, usually 6 to 10, around a shared difficulty or experience. Sessions are led by a psychologist, who sets the framework, makes sure everyone has their place and guides the group's work.

Everyone comes with their own story. By listening to others and sharing your own, you discover you are not alone in what you are going through, gain perspective and find resources you would not have found alone.

What the group brings

  • Breaking isolation: hearing others put words to what you feel brings relief and eases guilt.
  • Learning from others: other members' experiences and solutions open new paths.
  • Practising in a protected setting: daring to speak, assert yourself, listen and receive caring feedback.
  • Being supported and supporting others: helping others also builds self-confidence.
  • Often more affordable than individual therapy.

Who is it for?

Groups suit people going through a hardship that others share, for example:

  • Anxiety and stress
  • War-related stress
  • Families of soldiers and reservists
  • Grief
  • Parenting
  • Separation and divorce
  • Aliyah and integration
  • Self-confidence
  • Exhaustion and burnout

Group therapy can be done on its own or alongside individual therapy. It does not replace individual support in an acute crisis.

How does it work?

Before joining a group, an individual meeting lets us get to know each other, check that the group fits what you are looking for and answer your questions.

The group then meets at regular intervals, always with the same participants, for a number of sessions set in advance. Each session lasts about 1h30.

Group rules

  • Confidentiality: what is said in the group stays in the group.
  • Respect and no judgement: everyone speaks for themselves and listens without judging.
  • Freedom to speak: no one has to talk; everyone shares at their own pace.
  • Regular attendance: being there each time matters for the group's safety and cohesion.
